Introducing the inimitable Betsy Taylor...

Meet Betsy Taylor, self-confessed shoe-aholic and accidental queen of the undead - she’s willing to save the world – provided she still has time to shop, of course. Betsy is a fabulous creation from New York Times bestselling author MaryJanice Davidson.

There are five books in the addictive Undead series which combines the wit of Buffy with the glamour of Sex and the City: Undead and Unwed, Undead and Unemployed, Undead and Unappreciated, Undead and Unreturnable, Undead and Unpopular. Click on the titles to find out more on the Piatkus website.

Undead and Unwed

‘The day I died started out bad and got worse in a hurry…’

It’s been a hell of a week for Betsy Taylor. First she loses her job. Then she’s killed in a freak accident only to wake up as a vampire. On the plus side, being undead sure beats the alternative. She now has superhuman strength and an unnatural effect on the opposite sex. But what Betsy can’t handle is her new liquid diet…

And whilst Betsy’s mother and best-friend are just relieved to find out that being dead doesn’t mean Betsy’s can’t visit, her new ‘night-time’ friends have the ridiculous idea that Betsy is the prophesied vampire queen. The scrumptious Sinclair and his cohorts want her help in overthrowing the most obnoxious power-hungry vampire in five centuries. (A Bella Lugosi wannabe who’s seen one to many B-movies.) Frankly Betsy couldn’t care less about vamp politics. But Sinclair and his followers have a powerful weapon in their arsenal – unlimited access to Manolo Blahnik’s Spring collection. Well, just because a girl’s dead – er…undead – doesn’t mean she can’t have great shoes…

We’ve got 25 copies of the first title in the series, Undead and Unwed, up for grabs. Leave a comment telling us your favourite fictional vampire heroes and villains to be in with a chance!

…personally, I always had a bit of a thing for Spike in the Buffy series…mmm.
Spike: “I don't want to be this good-looking and athletic. We all have crosses to bear.”

Spike is so cool, Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunters are so cool and sexy as well. I recently read Urban Shaman by C E Murphy and I loved her main character Joanne Walker, a shaman who is also a copy caught up in events she has little control over.

Oh let me think, Laurell K Hamilton’s Jean Claude certainly perks my interest and I also love Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunters, Ash mmmmm. But I have to admit to having a bit of a soft spot for Anne Rice’s Lestat, probably because he was the first paranormal character I came across when I was young and old memories only seem to get better with time ;)

deirdre - yes Spike is just gorgeous. - Thanks for the tip on Urban Shaman - I'll certainly look that up.

natalie - I've always liked Ash too!
I can't help but think of Tom Cruise when I think of Lestat - I do think he is a bit odd these days, but he certainly surprised me with his turn as Lestat in the film version of Interview With a Vampire - so sexy and aloof!

I agree Emma that Tom Cruise is a little bit odd now and not what I imagined when I read the book, but hey that’s why I now try to picture the Stuart Townsend version of Lestat, mmmmm much better!! : )

Hi Natalie - yes, you're onto something with Stuart Townsend - Charlize Theron is a lucky woman, isn't she? Tomkat got married yesterday - he looks suspiciously tall in all the official photos...;-)

I love Sherrilyn Kenyon's Hunters too. Can't wait for Ash's book!! But my favourites have to be JR Ward's vamps. They are hot! Wrath and Phury, mmm. Can't wait for Butch's novel. Hope Piatkus release it same time as America! Has anyone else read these books?

Oh yeah I love J.R’s Vamps too and am waiting patiently for V’s book (I know some time to go yet!) and can’t wait for Butch’s either as bound to be a LOT of V in that one ;-) Also I forgot all about Charlaine Harris’s Sookie series and Eric is one vamp definitely on my list of favourites!

I thought Spike was gorgeous - Angel didn't do anything for me. I also love Terry Pratchett's fun take on vampires. The Vampire King and Queen in Stuart Hill's Icemark books are great too.

Hmm... I like vampires (on a purely fictional plane, that is ;-)) but somehow all vampire stories I've read have been disappointing to me.

This one looks like fun, though!

Love that you are getting more of my favourite authors - have read all MJD Undead books good giggle quota. have just finished the nora robert's circle trilogy. I enjoyed it but not as much as some of her other books. It was very easy to put down and forget about picking it up again for a while.

Well, I just have to say I adored Nora's Circle trilogy and found them very hard to put down!! Saved all three books up to read them back to back.

A very different trilogy from Nora ~ the 3 books made a whole as opposed to a trilogy where each book can stand on it's own. Especially enjoyed Cian!

Just bought a new Nora novel which you have published, Montana Sky.
I wanted to say it is one of the best I have read. Sally

Montana Sky is my fave all time Nora. Was her hundredth novel and her publisher asked for something really special, and boy did she deliver.

Three romances, great secondary characters ~ loved Tess's mother, so funny ~ and a really taut mystery.

Heaven!

Willa - I agree on the Circle trilogy - they certainly kept me hooked to the end - also went some way to filling the gap left by Buffy et al!

Sally - thanks for your feedback - Montana Sky was a real hit in-house - all the Nora fans raved about it. Our edition has just come out.

Willa - It really is vintage Nora, isn't it?

All commenters - We still have some complimentary books to give away - drop me a line at the contact us link if you'd like to take advantage!
